Viva La Novella announces regional focus

Seizure has partnered with the Foundation for Australian Literary Studies (FALS) for its annual Viva la Novella competition, and has announced one of the winners of the 2021 competition will be a regional resident.

Not for profit FALS presents the $20,000 Colin Roderick Award and aims to foster the study and appreciation of Australian literature.

‘This year, the ninth year of the competition, we are partnering with [FALS] who are on a mission to strengthen regional representation in Australian letters,’ said Seizure. ‘Since this competition was set up to help find new voices it’s a perfect collaboration. We are looking for two winners—one of whom will live in regional Australia.’

Winners of the Viva La Novella competition receive $1000 and a publishing contract.

Submissions to the prize should be 20,000–50,000 words in length and there is no limit on genre. Entries for the 2021 competition close 31 December. For more information see the Seizure website.
