Melbourne City of Literature Office supports #vicbookshopbingo competition

The office of the Melbourne City of Literature is encouraging Victorians to support local booksellers as part of a Bookshop Bingo initiative conceived by writer Imbi Neeme.

Participants download a Bookshop Bingo card, visit—either in store or online—up to nine bookstores corresponding with the card’s categories, such as ‘a bookshop you’ve never been to before’ and ‘a bookshop with a bargains table’, and post the visits and card on social media with the hashtag #vicbookshopbingo.

The City of Literature Office will offer a prize of $200 of books to one entrant. Neeme said non-Victorian residents can also participate by visiting Victorian stores online.

The competition comes as Melbourne booksellers reopen after several weeks of Stage 4 Covid-19 lockdown.
