Text acquires books by Boundless Indigenous Writer’s Mentorship winners 2023 mentorship open for entries

Text Publishing is delighted to announce the acquisition of books by John Morrissey and Lenora Thaker, winners of the Boundless Indigenous Writer’s Mentorship in 2020 and 2021.

John Morrissey was mentored by Miles Franklin Literary Award-winning Noongar writer Kim Scott. Text acquired Morrissey’s work in a two-book deal and will publish his short-story collection in 2023, with a novel to follow.
Lenora Thaker, the first Torres Strait Islander writer to win the mentorship, was mentored by award-winning Burruberongal writer Julie Janson. Text will publish Thaker’s historical novel in 2024.

The Boundless Indigenous Writer’s Mentorship is a joint initiative between Text Publishing and Writing NSW, with support from the First Nations Australia Writers Network (FNAWN) and Booktopia. Submissions for the 2023 mentorship are now open. For details, visit the Writing NSW website.
