Children’s Publisher role

We are currently looking for a publisher with a bold creative vision and proven experience in leading a publishing team to join us in Sydney.

The successful candidate will have a track record of success in children’s book publishing in both the local and international markets, deep market knowledge (including a familiarity with the Walker list), entrepreneurial instincts, excellent communication skills, and the drive to commission high-quality, commercially successful publishing.

You will ideally have several years of experience in publishing and editing quality picture books, fiction and nonfiction for children and young adults, and strong connections within the literary agent community. Your collaborative approach will be demonstrated in your motivational and supportive management style, and will enable you to build upon and nurture our publishing relationships within the Walker Books Group.

Critically, you will have the ability to strategically plan and analyse market trends, with a zest for work that is innovative and market leading.

Essential Qualifications/Requirements:

• Children’s book editing experience
• Proven children’s book successes
• Experience managing people
• Strong interpersonal, communication and mentoring skills
• Ability to work closely on financials with an analytical, strategic approach
• Established contacts in the industry.
