BookPeople Awards 2025 shortlists announced

BookPeople has announced the 2025 shortlist for the BookPeople Awards.

The shortlisted titles for the awards are:

Adult fiction

  • Dusk (Robbie Arnott, Picador)
  • Juice (Tim Winton, Hamish Hamilton)
  • Safe Haven (Shankari Chandran, Ultimo)
  • Sanctuary (Garry Disher, Text)
  • Theory & Practice (Michelle de Kretser, Text)
  • The Valley (Chris Hammer, A&U)

Adult nonfiction

  • The Chairman’s Lounge (Joe Aston, Scribner)
  • The Forever War (Nick Bryant, Viking)
  • RecipeTin Eats: Tonight (Nagi Maehashi, Macmillan)
  • The Season (Helen Garner, Text)
  • We Are the Stars (Gina Chick, Summit Books)
  • You Don’t Have To Have A Dream (Tim Minchin, Penguin)

Children’s

The awards celebrate ‘the books that booksellers across the country have most loved putting into readers’ hands,’ said BookPeople. Chosen by booksellers for readers, ‘these titles are the ones that sparked conversations, flew off the shelves, and made recommending a joy,’ said the organisation.

The winners will be announced at the BookPeople Conference Gala Dinner on 15 June 2025.
