A&U Aotearoa New Zealand acquires Shapiro’s second novel

Allen & Unwin Aotearoa New Zealand has acquired world rights for Good Things Come and Go by Josie Shapiro.

The novel follows Penny Whittaker and Adam Riggs after the death of their young daughter. Their individual work as an artist and skateboarder respectively has stalled, but when they meet with friend Jamie Flannery at his holiday house on the Coromandel, secrets from their past threaten to shake their world more, said the publisher.

Shapiro is a writer. Her first novel, Everything is Beautiful and Everything Hurts, won the inaugural Allen & Unwin New Zealand Fiction prize.

Publishing director Michelle Hurley said: ‘Good Things Come and Go is a hypnotic novel about friendship, grief, betrayal and ambition’.

Allen & Unwin Aotearoa New Zealand plans to release Good Things Come and Go in New Zealand and Australia on 4 November 2025.
