PRH Write It fellowship shortlist announced
Penguin Random House Australia (PRH) has announced the shortlist for the 2025 Write It fellowship.
The shortlisted writers are:
- Ceilidh Newbury for ‘Skates, Dates, and Other Deadly Weapons’ (young adult thriller)
- Dayle Fogarty for ‘After Dark’ (speculative fiction/new adult)
- Dorian Sutton for ‘The Passenger’ (literary/coming of age)
- Jessica Landford for ‘Rory Finch and the Empty House’ (young adult spy thriller)
- Judith Monkhouse for ‘Bitter Rain’ (fiction)
- Jules Ng for ‘A Little Feverish’ (literary fiction)
- Kait Newell for ‘The Bones Are Here’ (historical romance)
- Naomi Fogarty for ‘The White Heart’ (fantasy/supernatural)
- Skye Cusack for ‘Checked Out’ (romantic comedy)
- Tracey-Lee Daranjo for ‘A Long Forgetting’ (memoir/nonfiction)
- Violet Marr for ‘The Fine Art of Borrowing a Faerie’ (fantasy).
Established in 2018, the fellowship aims to engage with emerging and underrepresented writers.
PRH head of editorial Catherine Hill said, ‘The quality of the 2025 submissions was impressive, with a wide variety of genres and styles. We had a lot of fun reading, and it was hard to pick the shortlist amid a great deal of talent. We congratulate the writers on our 2025 list and are looking forward to reading their full manuscripts.’
The winning writers will receive mentorship with PRH editors, a $2000 grant and the opportunity to participate in the PRH Open House program to learn about the publishing process.
Winners will be announced in November.
