Somerset Storyfest announces 2025 regional program
Youth literary festival Somerset Storyfest has announced its regional touring program for 1–16 September 2025, traveling beyond its base on the Gold Coast, Queensland, to the towns of St George, Longreach and Emerald.
Each festival features free community events, including a Prologue Party, interactive writing workshops, and adult-focused literary discussions.
The tour features:
- Matt Stanton and Andy Geppert in St George (1–3 September)
- Richard Kinnon and A L Tait in Longreach (10–12 September)
- R A Spratt and Lili Wilkinson in Emerald (15–16 September).
Last year, the Storyfest regional tour engaged with over 4000 students through 88 events across 39 schools, providing ‘crucial literacy support to communities where 1 in 3 students fail to meet proficiency benchmarks according to 2024 NAPLAN results,’ said the organisation.
Somerset Storyfest festival director and CEO Andrea Lewis said, ‘The hunger for these literary experiences in regional Queensland is undeniable.’
