Phantom Billstickers National Poetry Day program
In Aotearoa New Zealand, the NZ Book Awards Trust has announced the program for the Phantom Billstickers National Poetry Day.
Among the events around the country, Invercargill Public Library will run a rhyming riddles scavenger hunt for children; Grey District Library in Greymouth will run poetry readings; and Featherston will run a ‘Soda Can Poetry’ event where organisers say participants can write a ‘small poem with the help of a critique, stamp it on a soda can’ and have their work exhibited.
Open mic nights will run in libraries in Auckland South for poets of all ages and experiences; in Auckland West, the show Illuminated Horizons – hosted by Allana Goldsmith – will provide attendees with an ‘immersive Wordcore showcase where words, sound, and visuals interweave to explore identity, ancestry, and transformation’.
The program also includes an online international workshop with poet Robert Sullivan in partnership with Australia’s Red Room Poetry Month.
A full program of events and more information is available on the website.
