Booktopia hosts book fair, raises $300,000 for Lifeline

Booktopia has raised over $300,000 for Lifeline during the online bookseller’s inaugural book fair last week.

During 23–24 August, Booktopia opened its Sydney warehouse to the public for the first time since 2023 for the event, which the organisation reported to be Lifeline’s ‘fastest money-raising event in recent years’.

Organisers reported over 8000 people attended the event to search for new reads among the 50,000 available books.

Booktopia general manager Jon MacDonald said, ‘Our partnership with Lifeline brings together a shared passion for books, community and helping others. The book fair has been an enormous success, and we were thrilled with the support of so many happy book enthusiasts.’

Lifeline Harbour to Hawkesbury Sydney CEO Elizabeth Lovell said, ‘These funds enable us to further elevate our proposition and support vital suicide prevention and crisis support services where and when needed.’

More information is available on the Lifeline website.
