Australian Political Book of the Year Award 2025 shortlist announced
The 2025 Australian Political Book of the Year Award shortlist has been announced.
Chosen from a longlist announced in August, the shortlisted titles are:
- The Chairman’s Lounge (Joe Aston, Scribner)
- Mean Streak (Rick Morton, Fourth Estate)
- Näku Dhäruk: The Bark Petitions (Clare Wright, Text)
- Nuked (Andrew Fowler, Melbourne University Press).
The winner will receive $15,000, and each shortlisted author receives $1000.
Judges said, ‘These four books all stood out for gripping story-telling and impeccable research. All shine a light on political power.
‘These titles also reflect the aim of the award, to recognise long-form writing that records history and promotes better understanding of policy and politics.’
The winner will be announced by treasurer Jim Chalmers on Wednesday 5 November at Old Parliament House in Canberra.
More information is available on the award’s website.
