Aotearoa Booksellers Choice Award 2025 finalists announced

Booksellers NZ has announced the finalists for the 2025 Booksellers’ Choice Awards.

Voted on by Aotearoa’s booksellers, the finalists are:

Adult Award

• Amma (Saraid de Silva, Moa Press)
• The Bookshop Detectives: Dead Girl Gone (Gareth and Louise Ward, Penguin)
• Foraging New Zealand (Peter Langlands, Penguin)
• Kataraina (Becky Manawatu, Scribe)
• The Last Secret Agent (Pippa Latour and Jude Dobson, A&U NZ)

Haydn + Rollett Children’s Award

• Children of the Rush (James Russell, Dragon Brothers Books)
• The Fantabulous Animal Orchestra (Donovan Bixley, Picture Puffin)
• The Grimmelings (Rachael King, A&U Children’s NZ)
• Nine Girls (Stacy Gregg, Penguin)
• The Raven’s Eye Runaways (Claire Mabey, A&U Children’s NZ).

The winners will be announced on 19 July at the 2025 Book Industry Awards.
