QWC Varuna shortlists announced

The Queensland Writers Centre (QWC) has announced shortlists for two Varuna fellowships.

Shortlisted writers and their projects are:

QWC Established Writers Fellowship

  • Madeleine Dale for ‘Poem for Many Voices’
  • Cass Moriarty for ‘You Beside Me: My Year of Grief and Gratitude’
  • Melanie Myers for ‘Obsessions and Collectables’

QWC Underrepresented Writers Fellowship

  • Helen E Crampton for ‘The Tide and the Passion Hunters’
  • Edmario Lesi for ‘Schoolboys’
  • Grace Wilson for ‘Goodbye, Eli Anderson’.

Open to members of the QWC, the fellowships include a two-week residency at Varuna, which are set to take place between July 2025 and June 2026. Travel costs and a manuscript consultation are included.

The QWC Established Writers Fellowship is for an established writer with at least one publication; while the QWC Underrepresented Writers Fellowship is for established or emerging writers from underrepresented groups.

Recipients will be announced later this year.
