The winners are:

  • Short Sweet: Molly Cooper’s Dream Date (Barbara Hannay, Harlequin Mills & Boon)

Also announced were the winners of the Emerald award for unpublished writers, which was awarded in two categories. The winners were Michele de Rooy in the single title category and Carolyn de Ridder in the ‘best Category romance’ category.

The Ruby Awards are administered by the Romance Writers of Australia (RWA) and were announced at the organisation’s conference held on the Gold Coast over the weekend.

RWA president Nikki Logan said the awards, which are in their 14th year, were ‘the largest reader-judged writers’ competition in Australia’.

‘The Ruby attracted entries from over one hundred and fifty Australasian authors represented by most of the major publishing houses including Allen & Unwin, Penguin Books, Pan Macmillan, HarperCollins, Hachette Australia, Carina Press and Harlequin Mills & Boon, covering sub-genres including historical, fantasy, paranormal, young adult, romantic suspense and more,’ she said.
