Vann appointed QWC CEO

The Queensland Writers Centre (QWC) has announced the appointment of Meg Vann as CEO.

QWC chair Kevin Gillespie said Vann was ‘very passionate about continuing with and improving upon the already excellent provisions offered by QWC and we are confident she will meet all the challenges of the position with drive and professionalism’.

Vann, who will take up the position on 1 October, has previously worked for the centre for three years, managing The Australian Writer’s Marketplace (AWM) unit, where she administered the AWMOnline community, AWM reference titles and the inaugural national writers’ conference, GenreCon.

‘Queensland stories have never been so important as at this time of great change in our industry and in our State,’ said Vann in a statement. ‘I am thrilled and humbled by this opportunity to lead Australia’s most vibrant writers centre.’

Vann replaces Kate Eltham, who is leaving the role to take up the position of director of the Brisbane Writers Festival.
