Lanagan chosen for PW ‘best books of 2012’

Australian author Margo Lanagan is among the authors whose books have been selected by Publishers Weekly for its annual ‘best books’ of the year.

Lanagan’s Sea Hearts (A&U), published as The Brides of Rollrock Island in the US, was chosen in the best children’s fiction category. ‘Lanagan brings dark, wonderful depth to the legend of the selkies, creatures whose limitations pale beside the weaknesses of men,’ writes Publishers Weekly. ‘While other writers revel in the novelty of supernatural romance, Lanagan exposes the true costs of such arrangements—financial, emotional, and otherwise—in stories that span generations.’

The full list of ‘best of’ books in categories including fiction, nonfiction, mystery, poetry, romance, thriller, lifestyle, children’s and comics, can be found on the Publishers Weekly site here.
