Text acquires unpublished Frame novel, ‘Death in Brunswick’ follow up

Text has acquired ANZ rights in Janet Frame’s previously unpublished novel In the Memorial Room.

The novel by the late author ‘draws on her own experiences in Menton, France as a Katherine Mansfield Fellow’.

‘It is a wonderful social satire, a send-up of the cult of the dead author, and—in the best tradition of Frame—a fascinating exploration of the complexity and the beauty of language,’ the publisher said.

Text has also acquired world rights in Australian author Boyd Oxlade’s Ron Elms, the Flying Butcher of Alamein, a follow-up to his novel Death In Brunswick, which was the basis of the Australian comedy film of the same name; ANZ rights in The Male Dilemma by author of The Game Neil Strauss; world rights in The House That Was Eureka by Nadia Wheatley, originally published by Penguin in 1985 ; and world rights in After They Left by Suzanne McCourt.
