Arts Victoria announces latest arts development grants
Arts Victoria has announced its latest round of Arts Development Program grants.
In all, 60 new projects will share in more than $810,000 in funding as part of the grants program, which supports Victoria’s independent professional artists and arts organisations to undertake new creative projects.
Several writers were among the recipients. They are:
- Jessica Au, who will receive $12,000 ‘for the development of a novel about women working in conventionally masculine roles’
- Stephanie Convery, who will receive $10,000 ‘for the development of a nonfiction work that examines sport, exercise and endurance racing’
- Andre Dao, who will receive $10,000 ‘for the development of a novel based on the remarkable life of the writer’s grandfather’
- Sofie Laguna, who will receive $12,000 for ‘support for a novel set against the industrial backdrop of Melbourne’s Western suburbs’
- Josephine Rowe, who will receive $12,000 ‘for the development of a new collection of stories’
- Fiona Wood, who will receive $12,000 ‘for the development of a young adult novel exploring cultural difference and similarities’.
A number of organisers of literary events and literary publications were also awarded grants. They are:
- Bronwyn Blaiklock, who will receive $8000 ‘for the development and presentation of the 2013 Pure Poetry Recital events, which bring together Victorian poets and composers to perform their work’
- Kill Your Darlings, which will receive $13,500 ‘for the publication of four print issues’ of the Kill Your Darlings literary journal
- Right Now Inc, which will receive $14,000 in ‘support for a publication that focusses on human rights and art’.
These are the last grants to be made through the Arts Development Program. The program will be replaced by the new VicArts grants program, which was announced in the 2013-14 State Budget.
