QLA people’s choice award shortlist announced

The Queensland Literary Awards (QLA) has announced the shortlist for the Courier-Mail People’s Choice Queensland Book of the Year Award, worth $5000.

The shortlisted books are:

Fiction

  • My Hundred Lovers (Susan Johnson, A&U)
  • Mullumbimby (Melissa Lucashenko, UQP)
  • The Secret Keeper (Kate Morton, A&U)

 

Nonfiction

  • The Man Who Invented Vegemite (Jamie Callister, Murdoch Books)
  • Three Crooked Kings (Matthew Condon, UQP)
  • Boy, Lost (Kristina Olsson, UQP).

 

Readers will have until 30 August to vote for their favourite title on the Courier-Mail website here. Those voting will go into a draw to win one of 20 sets of the nominated books. The winner of the award will be announced along with the winners of the other Queensland Literary Awards categories during the Brisbane Writers Festival on 4 September.

The Courier-Mail People’s Choice Queensland Book of the Year Award was first presented in 2012 to Simon Cleary for Closer to Stone (UQP).
