Maramenides joins S&S UK as children’s publishing MD

Former Five Mile Press and Echo Publishing managing director Alexandra Maramenides has been appointed managing director of Simon & Schuster (S&S) UK’s children’s publishing division.

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, Maramenides left the Five Mile Press in July after serving as managing director for over five years and helping to launch Echo Publishing. Maramenides came to the Five Mile Press from S&S UK, where she was previously children’s rights director.

In a statement, S&S UK CEO and publisher Ian Chapman said: ‘Our children’s division has shown significant growth in recent years, cementing a reputation for high quality publishing with a distinctive and ambitious list … With her wealth of global experience and forward-thinking approach, Alexandra will undoubtedly help us continue that success in a buoyant children’s market.’

Maramenides said she was ‘thrilled’ to be rejoining S&S UK. ‘I have such respect and admiration for this dynamic business, the talented people and successful publishing lists, and I am thoroughly looking forward to being part of it again in the New Year,’ she said.

The Bonnier Group, which owns the Five Mile Press and Echo Publishing, announced last week that Natasha Besliev has been appointed to the newly created role of CEO of Bonnier Australia, which encompasses Maramenides’ former MD position.
