UQP signs United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Publishers Compact

UQP has become a signatory to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Publishers Compact.

Through signing the compact, UQP pledges to champion the 17 Sustainable Development Goals that were adopted by world leaders at the Sustainable Development Summit in 2015.

These goals align with UQP’s commitment to publish books that reflect the SDG themes, such as equality, sustainability, justice, and safeguarding and strengthening the environment, to inform, develop and inspire action.

Ben James, director, UQP says: ‘Joining the compact connects UQP with a coalition of publishing houses across the globe that explicitly acknowledge their responsibilities to promote change and create a better world. UQP already launched its own sustainability team in 2020 to develop sustainable business practices from an environmental and social perspective; our commitment to the compact is an extension of our existing organisational culture.’

The UQP Sustainability Team has introduced sustainable practices within the UQP workplace, including using 100 percent recycled paper for in-office printing and recyclable packaging for all book orders, and actively reducing paper and energy usage.

UQP engages with organisations that share our values and operate to the highest ethical and environmental standards. As part of this, we have requested the environmental credentials of our current and future business partners.
