A&U proudly announce ‘Wylah: The Koorie Warrior’ a new middle-grade fantasy-adventure series

Albert Street Books, an imprint of Allen & Unwin (A&U), is proud to announce Wylah: the Koorie Warrior by Richard Pritchard and Jordan Gould—the first in a middle-grade fantasy adventure series for ages 8-14.

Publishing 31 May 2022, Wylah is an entirely original adventure story that is inspired by First Nations history and grounded in culture. In 2020, Richard Pritchard and Jordan Gould launched a Kickstarter campaign for a special edition of Wylah, and met their $20,000 goal in three days, sparking national media interest. The creators used money from the Kickstarter to do a series of cultural consultations, especially with First Nations women. Their main character, Wylah, is a Peek Whurrong girl from the Maar Nation. She is a funny, smart and relatable young hero.
