Scholastic Australia, a leading publisher of children’s books, is offering an exciting opportunity for a talented and experienced designer to work on its highly successful range of picture books, illustrated fiction, middle-grade and YA books and other formats as part of our dedicated publishing team. Scholastic is the #1 children’s book publisher in Australia and creates beloved book series such as Pig the Pig, Macca the Alpaca, The Ella Diaries and Weirdo, with some of the country’s most talented authors and illustrators.

The successful applicant will have 2+ years in-house and/or freelance book, magazine, product or marketing design experience. You will have excellent design skills, attention to detail, be confident in creating new content and be proficient with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of products and have a sound knowledge of pre-press and four-colour printing.

Excellent organisational and communication skills and an ability to work both independently and within a large team are required. A genuine passion and enthusiasm for children’s books and storytelling is a must. Experience in children’s books, magazines or consumer products will be very highly regarded. This is a fast paced role that requires remaining calm and creative under pressure. Appropriate tertiary-level qualifications are essential for this role.
