Are you ready to take on a critical role in developing secondary resources for a market-leading Australian publisher? Cambridge University Press and Assessment, one of the most respected publishing companies in the world, seeks a publisher to work on years 7–12 products for the national education market.

The successful candidate will manage the development and delivery of textbooks, digital resources, teacher support, and other instructional materials for secondary schools throughout Australia.

This is a full-time, on-going position that could suit a candidate with five or more years of experience in publishing.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading the development of educational resources, both print and digital, in line with press standards and organisational requirements
  • Taking responsibility for the publishing program in particular subject areas
  • Liaising with authors and consultants throughout the manuscript creation process
  • Managing the preparation and development of manuscripts for handover to other teams
  • Conducting market research in anticipation of new titles and to keep aware of the changing needs of the marketplace
  • Participating in regular publishing and production meetings
  • Attending workshops and conferences where required
  • Potential responsibility for some new print and digital titles.

Additional duties:

Carrying out any other duties which might be reasonably expected of you by the publishing manager or publishing director.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Five or more years’ experience in a publishing role, with preference given to candidates who come from an educational publishing background
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • An undergraduate degree
  • Good communication skills and proficiency in English and ability to write clear grammatically correct text
  • A critical eye for accuracy and visual design
  • Proven track record in working to tight deadlines
  • The ability to multitask and problem-solve
  • Keen analytical and research skills
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (familiarity with a variety of relevant software would be viewed favourably).
