Allen and Unwin, Australia’s largest independent publisher, is seeking an experienced and energetic marketing professional to lead our A&U consumer marketing division. The role plays a significant part in maintaining Allen & Unwin’s position as one of Australia’s leading publishers through the positioning of the company and its authors via creative and engaging marketing activity.

You will be responsible for:

• Developing and implementing targeted impactful marketing strategies for A&U titles for consumers and the book trade across a variety of channels to support sales targets
• Providing the sales team with marketing strategies to assist their sell-ins
• Developing innovative pitch documents for key authors
• Delivering all marketing activity in line with budget
• Managing an experienced team of professionals including marketers, designers and social media managers
• Establishing, influencing and maintaining relationships with a range of stakeholders including publishers, editors, and publicists.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ relevant industry experience in a senior marketing role and can demonstrate the following:

• Thorough understanding of marketing, advertising and promotion practice
• Strong knowledge of current digital marketing practices as well as design and print production
• Well developed budgeting, planning, time management and people management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication including copywriting
• Great interpersonal, influencing and presentation skills
• Resilience and the ability to hold the line
• Solid Microsoft Office capability.
