Larrikin acquires world rights to Beck, Rankine junior fiction series

Larrikin House has acquired world rights to Brock the Croc, a junior fiction series from author Adrian Beck and comic book artist Dean Rankine.

Described by the publisher as a ‘laugh-out-loud series, packed with heart and a strong environmental theme’, this series features Brock, the only crocodile in Saltbush Swamp, who must find the courage to face up to the humans, ‘squishy new creatures’ who ‘devise a plan to fill the swamp with concrete’.

Publisher James Layton described the book as on brand for Larrikin, and was moved on a first reading, with the book signed only a few hours after submission.

Adrian Beck is an established children’s author. Among his previous work is the Little Legends series (co-authored with Nicole Hayes), and the Champion Charlies series. Dean Rankine, who is illustrating the series, is a comic artist, writer and illustrator, who has worked on a wide range of comics and junior series, including the Simpsons comics, as well as a Riverdale graphic novel.

Larrikin plans to publish the first book in the series in June 2024.
