A&U acquires Heath’s ‘Kill Your Boss’
Allen & Unwin (A&U) has acquired ANZ rights to Jack Heath’s crime novel, Kill Your Boss, via Alexandra Christie from Curtis Brown Australia.
Detective Sergeant Kiara Lui returns for a new and dangerous investigation, said the publisher. ‘When a body hurtles from the sky and lands right in front of Kiara, she realises the only place from which he could have fallen is the library’s rooftop. Ensuring there is no possible movement in or out, the library holds a handful of suspects, each of whom with their own twisted reasons to kill this boss.’
Heath (Hangman, If You Tell Anyone, You’re Next) writes for adults and children. His novel Kill Your Brother was shortlisted for best crime novel at the Ned Kelly Awards.
A&U acquiring publisher Annette Barlow said, ‘Kill Your Boss thrusts Jack’s popular detective Kiara Lui right back into the centre of an investigation that really tests her. The action is fast, darkly funny and compulsive – I couldn’t put it down. It’s a perfect follow-up to Jack’s acclaimed bestselling Kill Your Husbands and an equally perfect Christmas gift.’
Heath said, ‘I think we’ve found an even better locked-room mystery for Kiara to solve this time around, with an even more entertaining bunch of suspects … and I’ve heard bosses are even less popular than husbands. So, you never know!’
A&U plans to release Kill Your Boss in November 2025.
