As part of the family-owned Bonnier Group, Echo Publishing is able to access the skills, resources and opportunities of the larger group, while also having the freedom and independence to curate a focused list of Australian titles, built on collaboration with and respect for our authors. We are seeking an experienced Publisher to lead our fiction program, acquiring and publishing up to 25 new titles per year, combining strong commercial and editorial judgement to further grow the list.

Working closely with the Managing Director and Publishing Manager, you’ll manage the publishing process from submissions and acquisition through to publication.

Key Skills and Experience

• Editorial (5+ years) and commissioning experience in trade fiction
• Excellent knowledge of the Australian fiction market
• Proven ability to identify, develop and retain author talent
• Strong communication skills and a proven commitment to a high level of author care
• Experience in acquisitions, including title P&Ls and contract negotiation
• Comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines, within a small team
• Interest in retaining a small number of hands-on editorial projects

This is a key creative role for someone who combines strong publishing instincts with commercial awareness and a genuine commitment to authors.

We are flexible in our working arrangements, with our team coming together in the office three days a week.
