Inaugural AusArt Day seeks to support creative work
Creative Australia’s (CA) inaugural national giving to the arts day, AusArt Day, takes place today, 23 October.
The new initiative is “designed to support artists and arts organisations to fundraise on one national day” in order to “increase the donor pool in support of Australian creativity while elevating the public value of the arts in the consciousness of everyday Australians,” said CA.
The choice to declare a giving day recognises the “compelling evidence on the scale and success of giving day campaigns”, the organisation said. “Giving days are unique, in that they allow fundraisers to showcase their work to reach brand new donors through means like social and peer-to-peer fundraising, which are becoming steadfast methods to attract new supporters.”
Through AusArts Day, CA aims to equip artists and arts organisations with the tools, platforms and capability to maximise income generated from private investment.
More than 300 artists and arts organisations have signed up to participate.
Over 40 literary projects are seeking donations, including the Emerging Writers Festival, Red Dirt Poetry, the Wheeler Centre, Overland literary journal, Archer magazine, and the NT writers’ centre.
The full list of participants and more information is available on the AusArt Day website.
