2026 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award candidates

The nominees for the 2026 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award have been announced.
The Aotearoa New Zealand and Australian nominees are:
- Alison Lester
- Gavin Bishop (NZ)
- Oliver Jeffers
- Susanne Gervay
- Ursula Dubosarsky.
The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award “is given annually to a person or organisation for their outstanding contribution to children’s and young adult literature” and is in honour of creator Astrid Lindgren.
“The list includes authors and illustrators, as well as storytellers and reading promoters,” said organisers.
The prize is SEK5 million (A$818,314).
In 2025, the winner was Marion Brunet from France. In 2024, the Indigenous Literacy Foundation won the prize.
The 2026 laureate will be announced on 14 April 2026.
