Faber Writing Academy manager Pip Smith said, “Competition was stiff! Yet again, we had a record number of applications, with 350 writers vying for seven scholarships in 7 courses. And yet again, the standard of work we read was very high, which made for a difficult month!”

Faber Academy was established by London publishing house Faber & Faber to provide “practical creative writing courses that draw participants into the centre of the book publishing world”, said organisers. Allen & Unwin has partnered with Faber & Faber since 2010 to present the Faber Writing Academy in Australia.
