Silvey charged with new offences, alleged collaborator charged

Author Craig Silvey has been charged with more child exploitation offences, reported the Guardian yesterday.

Silvey, who was charged in January with possessing and distributing child exploitation material, has also been charged with producing child exploitation material from January to June 2022 and an additional count of possessing it.

After analysing Silvey’s electronic devices, police have also charged a 68-year-old woman with 2 counts of producing child exploitation material and one count of distributing it.

Police alleged the woman created and distributed the material with Silvey. She was also charged with 3 counts of failing to comply with reporting obligations.

Silvey will face court in May. The woman has been remanded in custody to appear in court in April.

Publishers stopped promoting Silvey’s books at the time of his arrest in January.
