Hardie Grant is an Australian-owned independent publisher specialising in illustrated non-fiction, fiction, kids, travel and lifestyle. We are seeking an experienced and passionate part-time Senior Editor to join our Hardie Grant Publishing team as part of the First Nations Editorial Program.

This is an identified position open only to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People.

This is a 3-day per week, permanent role – ideally based in one of our offices, however encourage applications from across Australia and can discuss flexibility.

The Senior Editor will work closely across Hardie Grant Publishing to project edit a variety of titles, overseeing projects from manuscript through to press.

This role is responsible for the First Nations Publishing Prize, from judging through to editorial support. The role has one direct report, the Editorial Trainee.

Key responsibilities:

• Project manage assigned titles to budget
• Manage production and design to ensure timely delivery of material
• Use Firebrand to maintain metadata
• Establish and caretake the creative positioning of our books in collaboration with the publisher
• Develop design briefs in consultation with design and publisher
• Work closely with authors and illustrators
• Oversee the running of First Nations Publishing prize
• Work closely with the Editorial Trainee to provide editorial support to prize winners.

Salary is as the Book Industry Award, $80,000–$85,000 + super pro rata, commensurate with experience.
