Beijing International Book Fair delayed until November
The Beijing International Book Fair, which was scheduled to open tomorrow 24 August, has been delayed until November.
The fair will now run from 24–27 November.
According to Publishing Perspectives, the delay is not a big surprise to international exhibitors, with organisers reportedly being in touch about the possibility since June. The delay in the public announcement was reportedly caused by the need to secure new dates in November.
In its announcement, organisers gave no reason for rescheduling the event, but China is currently facing its biggest Covid-19 outbreak since the Shanghai lockdowns earlier this year, with the country reporting 1824 new cases on Sunday. Droughts and high temperatures are also imposing power cuts on industry.
