Are you a technophile? Currency Press is looking for someone who loves all things computer to work part time on our database and other things.

Currency Press is Australia’s specialist publisher of the performing arts. Since 1971 we have published plays by Australia’s most significant playwrights and a wide range of books related to the performing arts including screenplays, biographies and critical works. We also distribute similar books for the UK publisher Nick Hern Books.

Initially, we are offering a permanent part time position for two days per week. Depending on your skills and aptitude there is potential for this job to grow in both hours and scope. The role suits an enthusiastic, open-minded person – someone with relevant experience to undertake the following tasks:

• Maintain and develop our in-house FileMaker database
• Prepare and publish (XML-based) ONIX files by extracting data from FileMaker
• Develop metadata to improve marketing information and increase sales
• Liaise with our distributor to make sure our data is accurate and complete
• Maintain and develop our new website (not yet launched) and improve SEO
• Coordinate and develop eBook direct sales via website
• General troubleshooter.

Skills and experience

• Proficiency with FileMaker and Excel essential, Creative Suite extremely useful
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Tenacity and attention to detail to keep our data accurate, consistent and up to date
• Experience in data management with publishing-specific metadata and ONIX extremely useful
• Ability to care for our internal network
• Knowledge and interest in publishing would be helpful
